Contest and Scoring System Activated

Well, less than 10 days left for the TGD Contest and it looks like cat has a commanding lead.

To facilitate determining the winner and make it easier for members keep track of their score we have added a points column to the top users listing.

points for an upcoming story: 7
points for a published story: 10
points for a comment: 1 (will increase to 5 after 12/31/08)
points for a vote: 3 (will be activated after 12/31/08)
points for each vote received on a comment: 1

So every time you post a link to s story you will get 7 points, if that story gets voted to the front page you will get an additional 10 points for a total of .

If you write a comment on any article you will receive 1 point after December 31st that will increase to 5 points.

After December 31st, You also get 3 points for voting on articles. This is activated on a trial basis, we only want people voting for good stories and not just voting everything  just to get points. We’ll test it to see how it works.

Finally you get 1 point for every vote above zero you have on comments you have posted. This acts as sort of an anti-troll feature.

In order to check you score you just need to go to the Top Users page and click on the scores column and it will sort all users by their most recently generated score.

One thing to note Scores are not tallied automatically as you post, they are updated on periodic basis. So if you submit a link it will not reflect in you score until the system updates. This is done on purpose to prevent “mad dashes” on posting.

If you have any questions we have allowed comments for this article, please feel free to post.
